The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office are helping Egg Harbor Township police investigate what is being called an "outside intrusion into a municipal banking account"responsible for missing municipal funds. Officials are looking for the person who shot and killed a Pleasantville man Wednesday. The victim is Terry Hampton Jr., 27, who lived along Birch Lane. Police tape surrounded the crime scene in the 1100 block of Iowa Avenue Thursday.

An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty to armed robbery Tuesday, admitting that he attacked a terminally ill man in an effort to steal his pain-killing medication, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said. Dawud Ali, 47, a resident of the Highgate Apartments on Absecon Boulevard in Atlantic City, admitted he entered another man's apartment at about 6 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2009, and tried to steal his Oxycontin medication, assistant prosecutor Seth Levy said. A Pleasantville man pleaded guilty to robbery and weapon possession Friday. He and two others broke into an apartment in the Sassafras Run complex in 2008 and held the occupants at gunpoint during the robbery, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said. Laquae Anderson-Byard, 21, faces eight years in prison when he is sentenced April 30, Housel said.

A Maryland man was sentenced to life without parole plus 45 years in prison Thursday, March 4 for three first-degree armed robberies and two second-degree robberies in Hamilton Township, Linwood and Somers Point in February of 2006 and three counts of witness tampering. Catholic Church officials have removed a priest from the ministry in the wake of accusations of sexual abuse 29 years ago, according to a report in the Press of Atlantic City. The report said Camden Diocese took the action against Rev. Brendan V. Sullivan, 75, who worked in parishes in Margate, Absecon and Ventnor, and was a former principal at Holy Spirit High School. Two Atlantic City men accused of killing a Newark resident this weekend will get their own lawyers, they told a judge Monday. Troy James, 31, died at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, in Atlantic City, about two hours after he was found at about midnight Saturday morning after being shot in the abdomen on the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue. Kenneth Brown, 21, and Sean Jacobs, 24, were arrested later that day at the Knights Inn Hotel in Absecon.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the killing of an Atlantic City man found dead in Atlantic City. City K-9 Officer Gary Stowe, responding to a 9:45 call this morning, found Nazir R. Allen, 20, dead of an apparent gunshot wound, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said in a release. Housel did not indicate where Allen was shot, but police earlier said the wound was to the head. Allen's family has objected to an autopsy, citing religious beliefs.

A Cumberland County woman charged with the drunken-driving crash that left her boyfriend dead entered a guilty plea Thursday. Aimee Jost, 32, of Vineland, pleaded guilty aggravated manslaughter and faces up 10 years in prison when sentenced in April, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said. She must serve 85 percent of the prison term imposed before being eligible for parole for causing the death of Nicholas Smith, 29, of Vineland.

An Atlantic County grand jury indicted an Absecon woman Wednesday, Feb. 17 for accessing a patient's medical records on the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center computer network, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel. Mildred Zamot, 30, is charged with accessing a female patient's records on May 14, 2009, while Zamot was working at the Atlantic Gastroenterology Associates in Egg Harbor Township. Housel said Zamot accessed the victim's chart under a co-worker's logon.
